Artsmark - GOLD Award!

We were awarded GOLD in the national ARTSMARK award in April 2018. We believe that all children are entitled to a high quality arts curriculum.

What is Artsmark?

Artsmark is awarded for a school’s commitment to embedding arts and culture at its heart.

What is ‘Art’?

‘Art’ includes dance, drama, visual arts, digital media, film, cultural heritage and music.

‘We believe every child should have the opportunity to create, compose, and perform, as well as to visit, experience, participate in and review extraordinary work. That’s why Artsmark was created: to bring this ambition to life in every classroom.’ www.artsmark.org.uk

Our Artsmark Journey

There are 7 steps on the Artsmark journey. http://www.artsmark.org.uk/get-involved/how-artsmark-works

We submitted our Statement of Commitment during autumn 2016. We hope to complete our final case study by Christmas 2017 when we will be assessed by the Arts Council England and awarded silver, gold or platinum level.

Artsmark at Knotty Ash

We have a number of key people involved with Artsmark:

  • Arts Council (8 children chosen by their peers)
  • Ms Roanne Clements-Bedson (Headteacher)
  • Mrs Joanne Bridson (Culture and Creativity Team – Artsmark Lead)
  • Mrs Kirsty Cartwright (Arts and Culture Governor/Culture and Creativity Team)
  • Reverend Julia Jesson (Communities and Diversity Governor)
  • Community Partners including our PTFA, the Everyman Theatre, Resonate Music Hub and dot-art schools

At Knotty Ash, our motto is ‘Loving Learning Together’. We love to have fun, foster talent, build confidence and unlock potential. We are so proud of our children and especially enjoy seeing their happiness shine through when they experience the joy of creativity.

Through our Artsmark journey, we want to celebrate our strengths in what we already do within our inclusive creative curriculum alongside the development and enrichment of our arts provision. Our aim is to inspire our children through arts and culture by incorporating it into every pupil’s life and learning. We hope to build the resilience and drive that will help our wonderful children grow into happy, successful young people.
