School Information

Overview of the School

Knotty Ash School is to the East of Liverpool City Council. The School has been on its present site since the 1970s and prior to that located nearby on Thomas Lane. The school is a one form entry school and caters for approximately 265 children from the age of three to eleven.

The school also has resourced provision which means it is the only Primary School in Liverpool to provide resourced provision for deaf children. Currently there are fourteen profoundly deaf children who attend Knotty Ash and have their needs met by either inclusive practices or in smaller discrete groups. All children in school are taught to sign to ensure that everyone can communicate freely and many of our hearing children go on to take signing qualifications. The school has also become the first Primary School in Liverpool to have virtual links with a Children’s Centre (Knotty Ash Children Centre). The main purpose for this link is to extend the range of services for our families within the Knotty Ash ward. The School is proud of many of its achievements. We strive to create a stimulating learning environment which gives children the opportunity to learn, explore and develop as individuals. We boast of having beautiful grounds, including wildlife gardens, an outdoor amphitheatre, wigloos and much, much more!

We also aspire to ensure that our children are flexible learners, ready to adapt to the changing global demands of the world. The School has introduced the International Baccalaureate (Primary Years Profile) learner profile, to help children develop thinking skills as well as the emotional and behavioral attributes to respond to change.
